MORRISTOWN, NJ – Luke Schulte gave the Morristown High baseball team a boost off the bench when they needed it most.
Pinch-hitting in extra innings, Schulte’s leadoff triple—cashed in by Matt Nodoro a batter later—in the 8th helped propel the Colonials to their second victory of the season, a 3-2 victory over Morris Catholic on Monday afternoon at Harter Road.
Brennan O’Neill went the distance for Morristown, tossing eight innings of two-run ball en route to his first victory of the season. Crusaders starter Bret Henches went all the way as well, scattering six hits in seven-plus innings of work.
Pat Montfort singled in a run for the Colonials (2-5) in their top half of the second, while Caden Tierney followed it up with a RBI groundout to tie things up at two early on.
The Colonials will host Morris Hills on Tuesday. First pitch is 4pm.
