MORRISTOWN, NJ – Voice of the Faithful New Jersey will present a discussion of Dr. Elizabeth Johnson’s latest book, Ask the Beasts: Darwin and the God of Love in St. Mark Lutheran Church on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at 2:30 p.m.
After the program, a liturgy will be held at 4:30 PM. There is no charge for the program and all are welcome.
Dr. Elizabeth A. Johnson, C.S.J., is the Distinguished Professor of Theology at Fordham University. She has received numerous awards and is a past president of the Catholic Theological Society of American and the ecumenical American Theological Society.
When reviewing the book, Francis Schussler Fiorenza, the stillman professor of Roman Catholic Theological Studies in the Harvard Divinity School, writes: “[Elizabeth Johnson] provides a theology of creation that not only integrates an understanding of evolution with a belief in the presence of God’s love and grace in the world, but also encourages us to take up our common responsibility for the earth, its environment, and all its living creatures.”
And Lisa Cahill, Professor of Theology, Boston College, states: “Johnson’s aim is to inspire human solidarity with other creatures and hopeful commitment to the flourishing of all.”
