MORRISTOWN, NJ - The winter solstice, the shortest day and longest night, is occurring this Thursday December 21. The winter solstice is not the whole day and fluctuates depending on where you live. For us, in the United States, the winter solstice will occur at 11:28am  EST, according to TimeandDate.  The winter solstice marks the onset of winter with the shortest day and the longest night of the year.

To celebrate the first day of winter, Grow it Green Morristown is inviting residents to the 8th Annual Winter Solstice Celebration from 6 - 7:30pm at the Early Street Community Garden. At this free event, attendees can enjoy s'mores and songs by the fire, let go of the past year's challenges, try some yoga movements and set goals for 2018.
