MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ - Saint Virgil Academy (SVA) is currently participating in the "Dog Days of Summer” public art installation sponsored by Boonton Arts. The initiative is a public art project featuring over 100 dog statues designed by professional artists and local students.
The 8th grade students of SVA designed and completed a plaster Boxer titled “Unleashed.” They used words that reflected “unleashed” and the culmination of their years at SVA. The students used colorful Sharpie markers and Mod Podge to create their sculpture. To visually reflect the word “unleashed,” the dog holds a leash in its mouth.
This Saint Virgil Academy dog can be seen at The William Lawrence Agency on Main Street Boonton from now until to September. At the close of the art installation, “Unleashed” will return to SVA, thanks to generous parent donors.
Saint Virgil Academy is a co-educational Pre-K 3 through grade 8 school on the campus of Saint Virgil Parish in Morris Township.
