Foodshed Alliance Farmers’ Access Network enjoys success during second month of the WEEKLY winter farmers’ market in Morris County at the Alexander Hamilton Elementary School
MORRISTOWN, NJ - Looking for healthy local food? Check out the weekly indoor Morris County Winter Farmers’ Market at Alexander Hamilton School, 24 Mills Street, in Morristown.
The market, which is in its 5th year, continues to grow as the does the demand from farmers for a consistent outlet for their goods. This “one of a kind” market features local foods and goods, all grown, produced and/or raised within a short radius of the area. Eating and shopping locally is now something we can do year round not just during the summer.This weekend's specials include mushrooms, chicken, pork chops, a new Bee-Rub, and pickle chips. Executive Director Kendrya Close explains, “We want to provide all residents in the area with a centralized location to obtain fresh, locally grown and produced meats, cheeses, breads and produce all grown by our farmers within our foodshed. Doing this the entire year only serves to strengthen our sense of community and continue to foster a locally resilient economy!”
The market offers a great selection every Sunday (except Easter) through April 15, 2018 from 10am to 2pm. There is everything from meat to cheese, honey, prepared foods, seafood, baked goods, artisan breads and more winter produce than ever. Vendors such as Chickadee Creek Farm, Apple Ridge Farm & Stone Oven Bakery, Buffalo Girl NJ, Glenmalure Farm, Jarred Fresh, LL Pittenger Farm, Local 130 Seafood, Maria's Gourmet Edibles , Paulo’s Kitchen, Pickle Licious, Tea Thyme Sweets and Savory, Simply Soupreme, Stefan’s Pure Blends, The Guac Spot, The Salad Basket and Valley Shepherd Creamery.
