MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ – In its push to qualify for the state tournament and rescue the season, the Morristown hockey team delivered on Thursday evening.
Drew Shandlay’s third period goal propelled the Colonials to a 2-1 victory over Mennen Division leaders Chatham at Mennen Arena, bringing Morristown’s overall record to 6-8-2.
The Colonials—who received 23 saves from goalie Harrison Brown—got on the board first in the second period when Riley Keller finished off a pass from Ryan Scott four minutes into the period.
Morristown, now 3-5 in Mennen Division loop action, now have five games remaining before the NJSIAA cutoff to reach .500 and guarantee a bid in the playoffs. The first of those contests will be a road game with Kinnelon on Saturday afternoon.
