MORRISTOWN, NJ - Eighth grader, Ella Huang from The Peck School was among the students honored by the Mayo Performing Arts Center as music students of the month. Students from Madison, Parsippany, Florham Park, Chester, Chatham, Oak Ridge, Kinnelon and Randolph were recognized for their achievement as Outstanding Piano Players; prior to the Thursday, April 20 performance by the Joey Alexander Trio.
"Ella has proven to be a very serious pianist and all around musician both in and out of school", wrote Andrew Lyman. "Ella has participated in various musical ensembles at The Peck School such as choir, the winner musical, and the upper school talent show. She has shown great artistic promise in the area of piano by participating and placing in many area competitions and music festivals such as a Gold Medalist in the 2016 Golden Key International Music Festival & second place in the 2016 Music Educators Association of NJ Piano Competition. Ella is a superb musician that is always eager to perform, shows a genuine interest in music, and is extremely modest about her abilities which far exceed others' talents".
Students were nominated by their teachers based on their commitment and excellence in performing arts.
