The Dralla Foundation awards grants to organizations that align with their mission of “Giving individuals with physical challenges an unforgettable day”. El Mejicano in Denville will be hosting a dinner to benefit the foundation. Funds from the dinner will not only help them to make more unforgettable days possible, but it will also give the local community a chance to learn more about Dralla.
El Mejicano has been a part of Denville for 2.5 years but owner Jesus Mendez, has been working in the restaurant industry for over 20, alongside his family. In fact, his mother opened the first Mexican restaurant in Dover. Now, a restaurant owner himself, he has been wanting to get involved in fundraising for local organizations, but wanted to partner with an organization who could be flexible and receptive to creative ideas for fundraising. “My family and I know what one great day can do to change your life, and that being the very core of Dralla, it just seemed like a no brainer. Add that to the fact that Dralla was the first organization that came to me and asked how we could work on something together that can be beneficial to everyone was what sealed the deal. No cookie cutter mentality when it came to fundraising, which also makes it fun for all of us.”
The dinner will be a small gathering with proceeds (minus costs for food) benefiting the Dralla Foundation. It will take place on Wednesday December 7th at 7:00 PM on 36 1st Ave. A special tasting menu created with unique high-quality specialty foods will be served. Mendez describes El Mejicano’s style as “thinking outside the box without losing our roots”. The cost per plate is $40. Reserve your spot today by contacting Jesus at El Mejicano (973) 586-7000.

Dralla Foundation was founded by Peter Allard, President of Allard USA, manufacturer of a range of orthopedic devices designed to improve physical function and enhance the quality of life for individuals with physical challenges. The testimonials of the wearers of these devices inspired Peter to give back to individuals with mobility issues. Dralla Foundation awards grants each year to select non-profits that are aligned with their mission.
