SUMMIT, NJ - The golden-age tradition of horse-drawn carriage rides, complete with a 'clippety-clop' soundtrack highlighting scenes of light snow falling on a bustling main street, are being recreated in the Hilltop City's downtown, as Summit Downtown, Inc. (SDI) continues its tradition of horse and carriage rides during the holiday season via the "Carriages & Carolers" program.

Free horse and carriage rides -- courtesy of Regal Bank -- will be offered, from 1 - 4 p.m., on December 16 and 23. The boarding location for rides will be Lyric Park, at the corner of Bank Street and Beechwood Road.

Music will accompany the 'transportation' with Celebration Singers harmonizing classic holiday carols through the downtown on December 16, from 2 - 4 p.m., and Hickory Tree Chorus return to carol throughout downtown December 23, from 1 - 4 p.m.  Also that day, local guitarist and singer Jake McEvoy will be performing a variety of pop and holiday songs from 1 - 4pm in the Promenade at 426 Springfield Avenue.

In addition, downtown Summit stores are making gifting easy this season, with many downtown businesses will have a special table of gifts that are ready to 'grab and go'. The City and SDI's Holiday Valet Program continues through December 22, Tuesdays - Fridays, from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily.
