Women Come Together to Make a Difference for Homeless Families in Morris County
GLADSTONE, NJ - A drizzly morning in October, didn’t put a damper on Homeless Solutions, Inc.’s(HSI) 11 th Annual Women’s Day. Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone proved to be the perfect setting for the occasion, which has evolved into the premier charitable event for women within Morris County and has established a loyal following of attendees in its eleven years.

Hamilton Farm was filled with women from Morris and Somerset County as they came together for a day of exercise and socializing while raising funds for homeless families. The morning started off with a moment of meditation, led by Julie Swenson of Soulshine Farm. This was Swenson's first year participating in Women’s Day, and she was honored to do so.

“I have referred many families to Homeless Solutions and have been impressed with the services provided by HSI to our community", she said.  "I was grateful for the
opportunity to share strategies that I find helpful for others”.

Attendees then participated in a morning activity of a 5K Run, the Bar Method, Cardio Circuit, Golf, Meditation, Pilates, Powerwalk, or Yoga. Exercise was followed by mingling and mimosas, a gourmet lunch, ticket auction, raffles, and a champagne pull. Guests enjoyed services from DePasquale The Spa and Color Street nails. HSI added a new element to the lunch this year – a TapSnap photo booth – where the women had a chance to snap pictures to share with their friends.

Women’s Day is not just about having fun with friends, it is women coming together to support an important cause: childcare for homeless families. The cost of childcare is one of the biggest barriers to overcoming homelessness for families in our shelter programs. The funds raised at Women’s Day will help provide childcare scholarships so the women in our programs can continue working and providing for their children.

Swenson shared what participating in Women’s Day meant to her, “Your attendance is a wonderful way to honor and support the strength and character of all women, yourself included. By attending, not only are you bonding with other women, but you are also raising money to lift up those among us who need our assistance to meet their basic needs of providing care and shelter for their families”.
