MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Attorney General's Office has identified the victim of the fatal shooting as 24 year old Timothy O'Shea. According to the statement from the Attorney General's Office, the pistol that was in O'Shea's hand was recovered from the scene and determined by police to be a replica Beretta 9mm airsoft pistol.

In a press release, the Attorney General's Office stated that "a 911 call was received at approximately 4:14pm reporting a domestic disturbance, The caller reported that a person at the home had cut himself and had a gun".

Uniformed officers from Morris Township, Morris Plains and Morristown responded to the residence where Timothy O'Shea lived. When officers responded, they took the 911 caller to safety, said authorities. Two minutes later, police encountered O'Shea who has bleeding and holding a gun, they said.

During the encounter, one officer fired his weapon, striking O'Shea, stated the Attorney General's Office. According to the release, officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived. He was transported to Morristown Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased, they said.
