PATERSON, NJ- Already known for their willingness to rush headlong into emergency situations that most are running from, career firefighters in five North Jersey towns have announced that they will be giving their blood, literally, to help save others.

The effort, sponsored by the New Jersey FMBA Northern District, is being held in conjunction with the Community Blood Services, and includes blood drives that are open to the public in the following locations:

  • Monday, September 24- Ridgewood Fire Headquarters; 201 East Glen Avenue- 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 25 - Kearny Fire Exempt Hall; 72-74 Halstead Street - 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 26 - Paterson Fire Headquarters; 300 McBride Ave- 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 27 Morristown Fire Headquarters; 161 Speedwell Ave - 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Friday, September 28 - Bloomfield Fire Headquarters; 375 Franklin Ave - 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

“Our members never shy away from an emergency situation, and never back down when the chance comes to help the community,” said Kyle Hughes, President of the FMBA Northern District. “This is also a chance to residents in these communities to help save a life, and we hope many will take us up on the offer!”

All donors will receive free cholesterol, blood pressure, temperature, iron, pulse, and blood type screenings.
