MORRISTOWN, NJ - On Tuesday April 4, residents can buy groceries and support Fosterfields Living Historic Farm at the same time. How you ask? All you have to do is shop at Whole Foods Market in Morristown and Madison on April 4, and they will donate 5% of all net sales on every purchase to the farm.
Several times a year, Whole Food Market, donates a percentage of the day's net sales to a local nonprofit or educational organization. This year, Whole Foods Market has partnered with Fosterfields Living Historic Farm.
"Our organizations share many of the same core values", said Margie West, Regional Marking Manager. of Whole Foods Market. "With Fosterfields' focus on growing, cooking and preserving natural food, as well as establishing a honeybee colony, supporting this organization is the perfect partnership".
“Fosterfields Living Historical Farm has plans underway for a honeybee initiative that complements the historic beehives that had been established on this farm by the original owners, and also support the national and local effort to save the honeybees.” said Mark Sutherland, Manager of Historic Sites. “The initiative also includes planting a flower garden that will provide the habitat for the newly established beehives. Now with the new garden and beehives, several programs will be offered to the public to educate them about bees and the food cycle. The funds we receive from Whole Foods Market will be specifically dedicated to this new initiative.”
Fosterfields showcases daily farm activities that took place in the 1920's. Visitors can see farm animals, farmers plowing or planting the fields with antique machinery and help with daily. Fosterfields is located at 73 Kahdena Road in Morris Township.
