ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK, NJ - Holmdel, Colts Neck and other residents are turned away from state owned beaches due to the shutdown. Its not closed to everyone.

Governor Christie, in flip flops, shorts and a baseball cap, relaxed Sunday on the usually packed beach in front of the governor's oceanfront retreat at Island Beach State Park.

New Jersey residents remained  crammed onto adjacent municipal beaches.

You can see  images of the Governor enjoying himself from pictures that appear to be from a drone at http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/07/christie_pictured_at_island_beach_state_park_durin.html

The pictures were taken before Christie headed back to Trenton to hold another news conference. He was asked if he got to enjoy the sunshine.  Christie said, “… I didn’t get any sun today.”

Christie’s spokesman, upon learning about the images, said the governor’s baseball hat shielded him from any potential sun rays.

“Yes, the governor was on the beach briefly today talking to his wife and family before heading into the office,” the spokesman, Brian Murray, told NJ.com. “He did not get any sun. He had a baseball hat on.”

The New Jersey State Government Shutdown is now in Day Three.
