MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ - The 11th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, sponsored by the Interfaith Food Pantry (IFP) and Literacy Volunteers of Morris County (LVMC) will be held on Thursday November 23 at the Ginty Field Complex.
The race, which is USATF- certified will begin promptly at 8:30am.
In 2016, the event which includes a 5K, 1 mile Fun Walk/Run and Kids' Trot drew over 3,000 registrants. Proceeds from the Trot are shared between the LVMC and IFP and benefit many Morris County families in need of assistance. The IFP currently serves more than 2,000 households each month, providing food, nutrition education, counseling and referral services, and LVMC offers free one-on-one and small group tutoring in basic English and ESL to more than 500 Morris County adults.
Atlantic Sports health, the Official Health Care Sponsor of the Trot, is offering three free “Couch-to-5k” training sessions at their 111 Madison Avenue, Morristown location. This program is aimed at helping people who have never run a 5k before train for the Trot. Participants who complete all three sessions will also receive a free T-Shirt and free registration for the Turkey Trot. The first session will be held on September 19th. On-site registration for the rain-or-shine race opens at 7:00am, however participants are encouraged to avoid the lines and register in advance at morristownshipturkeytrot.org.
