How To Choose Paint Colors

Cindy Gelormini/The Paint Diva

Cindy Gelormini, aka “The Paint Diva of New Jersey” will be hosting free seminars on “Decorating Trends, Home Staging and How to Choose  Paint Colors For Your Home” at several local libraries.

Cindy has worked in the Interior Design field for over 25 years and is a Benjamin Moore Color Expert .  She was featured on Benjamin Moore’s website as one of their color experts, and is well known in the area as the Interior Designer and Color Consultant who worked at McGrath’s Paint and Hardware in New Providence for eleven years. She has helped literally thousands of homeowners choose the perfect paint colors, and earned many nicknames from grateful clients such as “The Paint Whisperer”

“The Paint Doctor” “The Paint Guru” and “The Paint Wizard” in addition to “The Paint Diva”, because she makes choosing colors so effortless and easy. In addition to being a paint color expert, Cindy is a licensed Realtor/ Sales Associate with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services in New Providence, and specializes, of course, in home staging. She does a video blog on her Paint Diva YouTube Channel and hosted her own cable TV show “A Taste For Design”.

One of the hottest design trends right now is gray painted walls. But can be the hardest color to choose because many times it turns blue, or pink or purple. Cindy will address choosing paint colors, including choosing gray colors, as well as design trends  and home staging in her free, one hour seminars.

Cindy works independently as “The Paint Diva of NJ” doing private, in-home color consultations.  Choosing paint colors can be very stressful for people, and the first thing Cindy does it put their fears at ease.

She lets them know “I do this all day, every day. I know these colors inside and out. “Some of Cindy’s clients  are “gun shy” because they have already chosen the wrong color in the past and don’t want to make the same mistake again, and some are paying painters to paint their homes and don’t want to make a costly mistake. Others are renovating or building new homes, and by the time they’re finished choosing everything from the light fixtures, to tile, to cabinets and grout colors, by the time they get to choosing paint, they’re too tired and frustrated to make any more design decisions and need her help. Others are buying new homes and have to paint every room in the whole house, and for most people it’s hard enough to choose one color, let alone colors for the entire house.

They are usually shocked to know Cindy can choose every color for the entire house in an hour. Some try to choose colors on their own, and after wasting $200 on sample pints, they give up and call her.  Sometimes her job is mediating between a husband and wife, or mother and teenager who don’t agree on color.

“It takes a lot of psychology to choose colors for people” she says, “You need to be able to read people as much as you can read colors. My job is to figure out what makes them happy, and then help them achieve that.”

Seminars are free and open to the public, however seating is limited. To reserve your seat, email Cindy at ThePaintDivaNJ@gmail.com.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday March 2, 7:00 pm- Bernards Township Library, 32 S. Maple Ave, Basking Ridge
  • Sunday March 5, 2:00 pm- Long Hill Township Library, 917 Valley Rd., Gillette
