MORRISTOWN, NJ – The boys and girls basketball squads of Morristown High both won their Morris County Tournament tune-ups vs. Parsippany Hills on Wednesday night.
At home, the girls used a big third quarter to take a 49-33 victory over the Vikings, while the boys took the trip up 202 and returned with a 70-50 victory.
Although trailing 24-21 at the halftime to the now 2-17 Vikings, the girls used a 16-4 third quarter barrage to improve to 16-2 on the campaign.
Elizabeth Strambi had 15 points and 5 assists to lead the way, while senior center Kayla Bush was the only other scorer in double figures with 10.
Balance was the name of the game in the boys game, as four different Colonials reached double-figures, including Steve Leung hitting his season-high mark of 15 points. Kevin Hoehn led all scorers with 15 points, while Ashton Pardie added 11 and Luke Haralampoudis chipped in with 10.
Both MHS basketball teams will be competing in the Quarter Final round of the Morris County Tournament on Saturday February 11. The boys will face Hanover Park at Randolph. Tip off is 5:30pm. An hour later (6:30pm) the girls will face Morris Knolls at Morris Knolls.
