BEDMINSTER NJ - The Junior League of Morristown is proud to present the 17th Annual Lunch with the Authors fundraising event May 4, 2018. The longest running event of its kind in New Jersey includes a panel discussion, book signing, and delicious luncheon featuring nationally acclaimed authors.
Lunch with the Authors has not only been a literary celebration featuring some of the most popular authors of our time, but has helped to support the mission of The Junior League of Morristown and the impact that it makes in the community through its program and partner agencies. For over 16 years, Lunch with the Authors has been a signature fundraising event for the Junior League of Morristown. Fundraising provided by the Lunch with the Authors has allowed the JLM to provide scholarships to well-deserved high-school graduates and women over forty. To-date the JLM has provided over 140 scholarships totaling +$243,000 in financial support.
"Lunch with the Authors has funded the JLM's scholarship program and other community initiatives for 16 years", said Jennifer Harper, President, Junior League of Morristown. "Not only is it a key fundraising initiative, it is my favorite event of the year! I love seeing people having a great time, listening to wonderful authors, and having lunch all while raising money for such a worthy cause."
This year, we are proud to host Elinor Lipman (On Turpentine Lane), Kate White (Even if it Kills Her), and Lindsay Champion (Someday, Somewhere).
Elinor Lipman, Author of On Turpentine Lane
Elinor Lipman is the author of 13 books of fiction and nonfiction, including Then She Found Me, The Inn at Lake Devine, Isabel's Bed, I Can't Complain: (All Too) Personal Essays, The View from Penthouse B, and On Turpentine Lane. Her rhyming tweets were published in 2012 as Tweet Land of Liberty: Irreverent Rhymes from the Political Circus. She was the 2011-12 Elizabeth Drew professor of creative writing at Smith College, and divides her time between New York City and Pawling NY. Her 12th novel, Good Riddance, will be published in February 2019.
Kate White, Author of Even if it Kills Her
Kate White is the New York Times bestselling author of twelve novels of suspense: seven Bailey Weggins mysteries, including Even If It Kills Her, and five psychological thrillers, including The Secrets You Keep.
For fourteen years she served as the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine, and though she loved the job (and the Cosmo beauty closet!), she decided to leave in late 2012 to concentrate full time on being an author and speaker.
Her books have received starred reviews from many publications and she has been covered everywhere from The Today Show to The New York Times. Her debut Bailey Weggins mystery, If Looks Could Kill, was selected as the first “Reading with Kelly Ripa” pick and soon shot to number one on Amazon. She is published in 13 countries around the world.
In addition to writing mysteries and thrillers, Kate is the author of several popular and best- selling career books. Her next, The Gutsy Girl Handbook, will be published in April 2018.
Lindsay Champion, Author of Someday, Somewhere
Lindsay Champion is a YA author living in the best place in the universe, New York City. Her debut novel, Someday, Somewhere, hits shelves in spring 2018. After interviewing her favorite celebrities (Hugh Jackman, Paul Rudd and Jake Gyllenhaal, swoon) as Broadway.com's features editor, hanging with Hoda on the Today show and reviewing books for Kirkus, she is currently an editorial director at the women's media company PureWow (named one of America's fastest growing companies by Inc. and Forbes).
