August marks the fifth month of our statewide quarantine under the COVID-19 pandemic. These are unprecedented times and I am proud of our town and the residents that have worked to keep our COVID-19 numbers down. As of last week, New Jersey remains only one of a handful of states whose case numbers have continued to slow over the last few weeks.
I wish to caution our residents however; we are not out of the woods yet. Wearing masks and face-coverings, washing our hands, and practicing physical and social distancing is more important than ever. New Jersey has demonstrated that these efforts and the Governor’s decision to slowly re-open our economy one step at a time, have been effective in limiting the spread of coronavirus.
Turning to the upcoming school year, last month the state provided new details on permitting all-remote learning for students who wish to remain home. I refer you to the Morris School District's website for more information on the upcoming 2020-2021 school year, at morrisschooldistrict.org.
Town Hall is open on a modified schedule and Tax Payments are being accepted online and in-person through August 1. We are strictly adhering to state and CDC guidelines for all who wish to make their payments in-person – visiting details can be found below.
With the recent heatwaves, I'd like to remind residents that excessive temperature and humidity levels can cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure. Please check on elderly family members and neighbors during extreme heat do not leave children or animals in vehicles.
I wish everyone a happy weekend, and be sure to catch my daily updates on the Town's Facebook and Instagram page!
