Morristown, NJ— The League of Women Voters of The Morristown Area would like to ensure maximum voter turnout for the upcoming July 7 Primary Election. Here’s what voters need to know:

  • this election will be conducted primarily via vote-by-mail ballots with limited in-person voting options available;
  • the voter registration deadline is June 16; registration forms are available at www.lwvnj.org. they must be printed out, signed, and mailed;
  • voters must be U.S citizens, at least 17 years old (provided he/she will be 18 by the date of the election), a county resident for at least 30 days before the election, and not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction;
  •  voters must re-register if they have changed their name, address, or have completed     incarceration since their previous registration; people on parole or probation can register to vote;
  • vote-by-mail ballots will automatically be sent to all active registered Republican and Democratic voters; unaffiliated and inactive Republican and Democratic voters will receive a vote-by-mail application; both the ballot and application will have pre-paid postage;
  • the deadline to apply by mail to receive a Mail-in Ballot from the County Clerk is June 30; voters may also apply in-person to the County Clerk for a mail-in ballot by 8:00 pm on July 7;
  • ballots may be submitted by 8:00 pm at July 7 via drop-box locations (at secure locations in each county), in person at the County Board of Elections office, or by mail (postmarked by July 7 and received by the Board of Elections by July 14);
  • voters can vote in person at a municipal polling location (at least one per municipality); polling locations will be announced by June 15 via mail;

CDC guidelines for polling place safety and sanitation will be followed; polling locations will provide paper provisional ballots; voters with disabilities may vote on ADA accessible voting machines;

Polling places cannot accept completed vote-by-mail ballots.
