SPARTA, NJ - Laddey, Clark & Ryan presented scholarship awards to two Sparta, NJ students, one from Pope John Regional High School and the other from Sparta High School. Each student received the $1000 Brian M. Laddey Scholarship honoring Mr. Laddey and his commitment to public service.
The scholarship winners demonstrated aptitude, scholarship and initiative in areas that lead to public service careers. The recipients also exemplify leadership and dedication to community service.
“We were pleased to extend this award to these two exceptional students,” states Partner Bill Askin. He continues, “This scholarship represents the same spirit of giving exemplified by Brian Laddey. These two students have bright futures and deserve this recognition.”
The scholarship recipients, Madison Colaco and John (Jack) Nelson, are both graduating seniors. Colaco attends Sparta High School and will be attending Kutztown majoring in political science and Nelson attends Pope John and will be attending Boston College majoring in economics and political science.
The memorial scholarship was dedicated to Brian Laddey, who passed away in 2007. Laddey was a former Sussex County Prosecutor and Sparta Township Attorney, the latter for 25 years, as well as being a founding partner of the law firm of Laddey, Clark & Ryan, LLP.
“Brian typified the devotion to public service that is so important in today’s society,” states fellow founding Partner Tom Ryan. He continues, “His reputation in Sparta, Sussex County and throughout the state was impeccable as an attorney and counselor to those in the public sector.”
