MENDHAM, NJ - The Black Horse Tavern has a new Executive Chef.
Executive Chef, Daniel Zappulla, who has been part of the 40North family since 2015 led the culianry team at the Office Tavern Grill and Piattino: A Neighborhood Bistro. Zappulla is a former banquet chef at The Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ and a cook at The Cranford Hotel. A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, he has honed his skills over the years to develop a unique approach to the modern American and Italian menus, wowing guests with his fun and inventive food.
He will continue to serve the unique, contemporary farm-to-table American cuisine guests can expect from The Black Horse Tavern alongside several new, fun menu items, including exciting weekly specials and the addition of several new vegan and vegetarian menu options. The Black Horse Tavern will continue to offer homemade dishes including comfort food classics like pot pies and desserts as well as new vegan dishes.
The new vegan dishes that will be available at The Black Horse Tavern starting on Monday, May 17 include:
- Truffled Cauliflower served with silken butternut squash, pine nuts and sage
- Grilled Asparagus with a vegan lemon aioli, marinated tomatoes, basil and olive oil
- Rigatoni Caponata served with eggplant caponata, pine nuts and basil
- Impossible Bowl, made with faro, avocado, asparagus, carrots, Impossible Ragu and topped with spicy thai dressing
The Black Horse Tavern is located at 1 W Main Street in Mendham.
