CHATHAM, NJ - The Masterwork Chorus holds fall 2016 auditions by appointment on Wednesday evenings, September 14th and 21st, at the Chatham United Methodist Church (CUMC), 460 Main Street, Chatham, NJ, although alternative arrangements may be made. Contact Don MacGowan at (973) 479-4020 or at email@example.com.
Singers will be asked to vocalize, carry out pitch- and rhythm-matching exercises, sight read in a four-part piece and, optionally, sing a prepared selection. Previous choral experience is highly desirable.
Rehearsals take place at CUMC on Wednesdays from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm beginning September 7th, 2016. Prospective singers are encouraged to attend this first rehearsal to acquaint themselves with Masterwork’s singers and style.
The 2016-2017 season will be an exciting one and celebrates Masterwork’s passion for “Timeless Music.” The chorus performs Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall on December 23rd and at Ridge PAC on December 18th, hosts a Messiah Sing-Along on December 11th and presents a holiday concert on December 4th. Spring 2017 performances include “Fit for a King” with the Handel Coronation Anthems and Bach Cantata BWV 207a on March 4th and “Traditions” on May 20th featuring Ramirez’s Spanish mass, Misa Criolla, newly commissioned Polish lullabies by Martin Sedek, Masterwork’s associate conductor and works rooted in the African-American tradition ranging from spirituals to jazz.
