MORRISTOWN, NJ - As expected, the undefeated Morristown girls basketball team has earned the top-seed for the 2017 edition of the Morris County Tournament.
The boys situation is a bit trickier.
Jimmy Pisciotto’s 11-0 Colonials—in pursuit of their first county title since way back in 1979—will play the winner of the Mountain Lakes-Morris Tech preliminary round game on February 4th. Should they advance in that one, Morristown will likely play the winner of a tough, 8-9 matchup between West Morris and Morris Knolls.

Last February, the Colonials boys team got knocked off in overtime by Hanover Park in a 4-5 quarterfinal matchup. If seeds hold, there is going to be a rematch in that exact same spot at Randolph High School.
Bill Connolly’s crew drew the #4 seed in the 26-team field, and will face the winner of this weekend’s Montville-Boonton preliminary round game, also on February 4th.
The boys team will be aiming for its first county championship since 2002.
