MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Morris Educational Foundation (MEF) will host the second part of its Parent Education Series on Thursday, January 22nd at 7 pm at Morristown High School Cafeteria.
Dr. Robin Berman, Psychiatrist, Parenting Expert & Author, is returning to further explore the issues discussed in her book, Permission to Parent. Berman believes, "many parents, still feeling the emotional bruises of their own childhoods, reject their parents' old-school style of discipline. But rather than injecting more love into their leadership, they ceded too much of their parental power".
"To craft a new middle, I picked the brains of great parents, teachers, doctors and coaches for guidance on parents at its best", stated Berman. "My sole intention for writing this book is to inspire parents to be their best selves, so they can be the best parents possible."
Nearly 200 parents were in attendance this past November when Dr. Berman first spoke to the community about her approach to increasing healthy child development by strengthening the parent-child bond. Receiving such positive feedback on this first presentation, event organizers anticipate a strong turnout for the upcoming book club talk, which is relevant for parents of children of all ages.
This event is free and open to the public. A RSVP, with opportunity to submit a question for Dr. Berman, is requested but not required at bit.ly/DrBermanBookClub.
Robin Berman, MD, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and runs her own clinical practice as a psychiatrist. During her medical school rotation in child psychiatry, she realized that the best way to help children was often to help their parents, and thus began her lifelong journey of parental education. Her interest is focused on increasing healthy child development by strengthening the parent-child bond. Permission to Parent, Dr. Berman’s first book, has led her to be featured recently on The Today Show, Good Morning America and in the Washington Post.
