MADISON, NJ — The Madison Dodgers improved to 5-0 on the season, beating Morristown-Beard 16-6 on Tuesday afternoon. Ian Waresk scored game high seven goals to lead the Dodgers to victory.
The Dodgers got out to an early lead and never looked back. Waresk scored the first goal right off the face off win by Ryan Kaye. Moments later, Will Anton would score two goals in a row to give Madison a 3-0 lead.
Waresk would take matters into his own hands and score three straight goals that would have the Dodgers comfortably up 6-0. Madison would go into the second quarter up 7-1. Kaye did a fantastic job in the first quarter, winning the majority of the face-offs that set up the Dodger goals.
However, in the second quarter, Morristown Beard would make a comeback, scoring four straight goals to make it 7-5. That’s when the Dodgers would turn it up a notch. They went on a 9-1 run for the remainder of the game, getting goals from Waresk (7), Anton (4), Jackson Cox (2) , Charlie Cleaves (1), and Nate Klimasewski (1) and Ryan Schmitz (1).
The Dodger defense did a great job containing pre-season All-American, Connor Morin, who scored two goals and had three assists.
Madison goalie Nick Spagnoletti recorded six saves and let up five goals. Ryan Weck would replace Spagnoletti in the fourth with two saves, allowing only goal.
