MORRISTOWN, NJ - Morristown-Beard School senior Pat Ryan ’18 will compete against the top young golfers in the world later this month when he tees it up in the 70th U.S Junior Amateur Championship at Flint Hills National Golf Club in Andover, Kansas from July 17th to July 22nd.

Ryan qualified for the prestigious tournament after securing one of two available spots among a field of 74 golfers at the Sectional Qualifying Tournament at the Peddie Golf Club in Hightstown on June 19th.

After recording an even-par 36 on the front nine, Ryan saved the best for last — shooting a 33 on the back nine, including an eagle on the par-5 14th hole, for a final score of 69 (3-under par).  South Orange’s Carter Nunez will also represent New Jersey at the tournament.

This spring, Ryan helped lead Morristown-Beard School (19-3) to a final No. 7 ranking in the Top 10, a Morris County Tournament title, a Prep B crown, and a NJSIAA North Jersey, Non-Public B Championship for the first time in School history. He earned third-team All-State honors and was also named First Team All-NJAC. This year’s MBS boys golf team was coached by Harry Carr, who was named Coach of the Year by

Ryan’s summer schedule is a busy one, as he will attempt to qualify for the MET Open and the New Jersey State Open, along with AJGA events over the next few months.
