MORRISTOWN, NJ – A Morristown/Morristown-Beard clash in any sport always brings out the best in athletes from both sides.
After three overtime periods to cap off a thrilling boys lacrosse contest on Saturday afternoon on the MHS turf, it was the Colonials whose best was one goal better.
Morristown held a 4-3 lead late in the fourth, but Jay Goldy’s goal for Mo-Beard with 4:25 evened things up until the Colonials found a winner in the third extra session.
In the girls game that immediately followed, Morristown nearly pulled off a major upset of the state’s second ranked team, Oak Knoll of Summit, but dropped an 11-10 heartbreaker.
Coach Evan Mager’s squad received four goals apiece from Annika Begley and Nicole Ferrara in that one.
The double-header started at 3 PM due to Saturday serving as an ACT testing date in the morning.
