Morristown Business Celebrates New E-Commerce Website with Launch Party

MORRISTOWN, NJ - Lucy’s Gifts, the handbag and accessory boutique located on South Street, celebrated the launch of their new ecommerce website on Saturday along with Mayor Timothy Dougherty, Morris County Sheriff James Gannon and members of the community. Founded by Marisa Spagnoletti, Lucy’s Gift’s was opened following the murder of her husband, Maurice in June of 2011 in order to raise money for multiple charities in the area.  She founded the Maurice J. Spagnoletti foundation in his honor to support victims of violence, special needs children and those who serve in the military.

“Our ‘My Morristown’ event shows the world that my husband did not die in vain. His legacy of good lives on in me, our daughter Lucy, and all of us. The love we shared is so much greater than the evil that killed him,” Spagnoletti said.

Since its grand opening in 2015, she has been able to expand her business into Florham Park as well. Now, with two boutiques and an e-commerce store, Lucy’s Gift’s is able to donate 100% of its profit to multiple other charities including The Children of China Pediatrics Foundation, P.G. Chambers School, SAFE in Hunterdon,The 200 Club of Morris County and The Foundation for Morristown Medical Center  for the expansion of the Goryeb Children’s Hospital.

Spagnoletti has always felt passionate about supporting those members of the military and police force especially following the tragic death of her husband. Although there are still many unanswered questions, she says she is so thankful for all the law enforcement officers who took on this case. She honored all service members, first responders and caregivers with a commemorative MJSF pin at the “Our Morristown” event.

“I want everyone to know that I fully stand with and support all the members of the FBI, CIA and police force as well a those who serve in the military because I really don’t think people understand the sacrifices they make for this country,” said Spagnoletti.

Mayor Timothy Dougherty said he was happy to stop by this event and to support this cause.

“Marisa is so active in the community and I am so excited about her long term commitment to the town,” he said. “I have always promoted shopping local as well and Lucy’s Gifts supports so many great causes.”

Morris County Sheriff James Gannon also attended the event in support of Lucy’s Gifts and commended Spagnoletti for all her success over the past two years.

“She is a true testament to the power of one; many people have good ideas but she was able to turn a terrible situation into a great thing. I know she has good things coming in the future,” he said.

Although Lucy’s Gifts in Florham Park is a much larger facility, Spagnoletti said she chose to have the event in Morristown because here is where she started her business.

“My heart is here in Morristown and this community put me on the map,” she said.
