MORRISTOWN, NJ - Last Thursday Unity Charter School held its first annual “Green Gala CommUnity Dinner and Silent Auction.”  With over 100 people in attendance at the Birchwood Manor in Whippany, NJ, The event raised funds to directly support Unity’s student enrichment and the athletics program. The gala also honored Gertrude “Trudy” Dunham, an educator who has been with Unity Charter School since its inception in 1998. Dunham was part of the charter writing team, and has served Unity Charter School as both a teacher and as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant.

At the event, Dunham and Unity Charter School were presented with a Joint Legislative Resolution on behalf of Senator Bucco, and Assemblymen Bucco and Carroll, recognizing Unity Charter School as “being dedicated to providing academic excellence to students in Kindergarten through eighth grade, while infusing environmental sustainability throughout its school culture.”
