MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Town of Morristown has announced that cooling centers will open today Wednesday July 6 through Friday July 8 as the weather heats up in the area. The National Weather Service has forcasted that today's temperatures will rise to the mid 90's. According to the NWS, temperatures will reach 94 on Thursday and 91 on Friday before falling into the high 80's this weekend. 

The NJ DEP has innsued an air quality alert Code Orange in Morris County though Thursday. This means that the air may become unhealthy for children, people with asthma, heart disease and the elderly. Strenuous activity and exercising outdoors should be limited during this time.

Residents are invited to beat the heat at Cooling Centers, located at tthe Morristown Town Hall, Senior Center, 200 South Street between 8:30am - 4:30pm. 

The Town has also extended the hours at Burnham and Cauldwell Pools. Both pools will be open from 11am - 8pm.
