MORRISTOWN, NJ - At 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2016, Morristown Festival of Books will mark its third year with a Keynote address by Sebastian Junger, the New York Times best-selling author of The Perfect Storm, War, and A Death in Belmont at Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center. Junger, an award-winning veteran reporter who has written extensively of his experience embedded with American troops in Afghanistan, will discuss his latest book Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging.

Combining history, psychology and anthropology, TRIBE explores what we can learn from tribal societies about loyalty, belonging and the eternal human quest for meaning. TRIBE presents a persuasive argument that this “tribal” connection has been lost in modern society, and regaining it may be the key to our psychological survival.  Junger’s critically acclaimed book raises and attempts to answer many questions, including whether the alarming rise of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) among repatriated American troops stems from their sense of alienation from the very homeland they were fighting to protect. Junger’s book is ultimately is a call to action that reminding civilians and soldiers alike that our greatest source of healing may be found in “our shared humanity.”

TRIBE continues to receive widespread critical acclaim following its release in May 2016.  The New York Times Book Review calls it ““absorbing and original’” while declares “Junger is a Master.”
