MORRISTOWN – As the state tournament rolls on, scores always seem to tighten up in the later rounds.
Such was the case for the Morristown field hockey team on Wednesday afternoon, but they were on the long end of the stick.
The Colonials, seeded first, notched a goal in each half to notch a 2-0 decision over Ridge in the semifinals of the NJSIAA North 1, Group 4 tournament. The Morris County champions will now face Montclair—a 3-2 winner over Randolph in the other semifinal—in the sectional final this Friday.
Olivia Graham and Callie Sundin scored the goals for Morristown, who improved to a sparkling 19-1-1 on the season. Devin Colquhoun also added an assist for the winners, who will look for their third championship of the season in Friday’s showdown with the Mounties.
