MORRISTOWN – In a reminder that a wild Morris County Tournament run could await them, the Morristown girls basketball team was tested for 32 minutes on Wednesday night.
Morris Knolls – whom the Colonials may see in a quarterfinal matchup on the Golden Eagles’ home court (Knolls is an annual predetermined neural site) in a few weeks – led until late in the fourth quarter, but Morristown ultimately escaped with a 53-51 victory to move to 11-2 on the season.
Sophomore Tara O’Neill led the winners in scoring with 18 points, but senior point guard Elizabeth Strambi also registered a terrific all-around game, scoring 16, assisting on three buckets and collecting six rebounds.
Senior Kate Kolb missed a double-double by one point, as she scored nine while picking up 10 boards.
Knolls (7-6) was led by forward Christi Conroy with 17 points.
