MORRISTOWN, NJ - After losing a tough 1-0 game on Sunday to Delbarton, the Morristown High School Baseball team bounced back with wins against South Plainfield and Jefferson.

On Monday night, the Morristown Colonials traveled to TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater to face South Plainfield High School under the lights. The game started out as a pitchers duel with Caden Tierney taking the mound for  Morristown. Tierney pitched 4.2 innings, allowing two runs and striking out three.

However, a sixth inning rally by Morristown was too much for the Tigers. Runs by Tate Ballestero, Colin Burke, Andrew Gold, David Haberman, Pat Montfort, Matt Nodoro, Brennan O'Neill, Lucas Reida and Luke Schulte led to an 11-2 win for the Colonials.

Jaxen Ruhalter secured the win, striking out 2 and walking one.

The MHS team then celebrated its Senior Day with a victory on Tuesday afternoon.

Led by Gold’s 3-for-3 day, one that included a double and a RBI, the Colonials took a 5-1 decision over Jefferson at Harter Road, improving their record to 12-6 on the campaign.
O’Neill, ironically a junior, also had a big day at the plate for Morristown, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and a homerun on the afternoon.

Up 2-1 entering the sixth inning, Morristown plated three runs to extend their lead of the Falcons (9-9), allowing starting pitcher Luke Schulte (W, 1-0) to pick up his first victory of the season on the mound.

Schulte went 5 innings and allowed just one hit in a 79 pitch effort.

Seniors Aiden Hoeman and Vin Borelli each pitched a scoreless inning in relief for the winners.
