WEST ORANGE – Beating a baseball powerhouse like Seton Hall Prep requires fine pitching, timely hitting, and error free baseball.
The Morristown baseball team was unable to do the last of the three on Saturday afternoon, and the numbers proved the above statement correct.
Three unearned runs resulting from Colonials mishaps proved costly, as Seton Hall Prep notched a 4-1 decision on their state of the art home, Rick Porcello Field. Morristown dropped to 1-2 on the campaign in the early goings.
Brennan O’Neill—ace Morristown pitcher—took the loss despite giving up no earned runs and seven strikeouts in four innings of work. The Pony Pirates got one unearned score on O’Neill in the bottom half of the second.
Reliever Joe Pucek gave up one earned run in three innings of work, but two more unearned tallies helped balloon the Seton Hall lead to 4-6 after six innings.
Matt Nodoro—1-for-2 on the day—broke the shutout by scoring Morristown’s only run in the game’s final half inning.
