MORRISTOWN, NJ – There has not been a city championship awarded on the high school basketball circuit in Morristown for more than half a century.

But if they were to award one in 2016-17, that mythical title would belong to the hometown, public school Colonials, who have now taken down both of their non-public neighbors in Morristown.

Morristown defeated Morristown-Beard by a 56-43 count to up its record to 11-3 on the season on Saturday night. Kevin Hoehn led all scorers with 22 points, as the Colonials used a 15-8 second quarter to create some separation from the cross-town Crimson.

Luke Haralampoudis scored a season-high 17 for the now 11-3 Colonials. With this victory, Morristown increased its chances of gaining a high seed in the NJSIAA North 1, Group 4 sectional tournament at the end of the year.
