MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Morristown High boys basketball team received good news on early Thursday morning.
Paterson Eastside’s withdrawal from the 99th New Jersey state basketball tournament drastically alters the bracket, and the new draw will see the Colonials playing some local teams.
The Colonials have now been bumped to the fifth seed in Section 1, Group 4 and will now face Morris Knolls in opening round action on Monday night. Morristown defeated Knolls by a 56-40 count earlier in the season.
The Maroon & White would have had a tricky first round game with Passaic Tech in the first round had Eastside still been in the tournament.
Should Morristown advance again, they would either make the short drive to Randolph in a quarterfinal matchup Wednesday, or host Kearny out of Hudson County.
