MORRISTOWN, NJ – Tuesday night’s home match with Millburn produced mixed results for the Morristown High fencing program.
The boys side took a 16-11 victory over the Millers to improve to 5-2 on the campaign, but the girls dropped a tough, 19-8 decision in dual meet action in the MHS auxillary gym.
In the boys match, the Colonials separated themselves from their Essex County opponents in the Epee class, where they rolled to a 7-2 score line.
It was there where seniors Theodore Droar and Matthew Suchman both swept three matches to propel their side to victory.
Morristown received significant contributions from Daniel Ribaudo (2-1 in the Sabre) and Jayson Butts (2-1 in the Foil) to have things leveled up at 9-9 going into the Epee events.
While the girls didn’t have as successful a night as a team, sophomore Abigail Gringeri won both of her Epee matches. Morristown’s lone victory in the Foil events came from Samantha Hessels.
