MORRISTOWN, NJ - The fencing season at Morristown High will wind down this weekend, but it was highlighted by some superb individual performances along the way.

While the Colonials girls squad finished just shy of .500 at 8-9, junior captain Abigail Gringeri finished her season with a 43-2 record and a District 1 individual title in the epee event. Morristown finished fourth out of 10 teams in the event.

Fellow captain and senior Samantha Hessels also had a very successful season, winning 60 percent of her matches for a 21-14 season’s record.

The boys team, who finished off their dual meet season at 10-7, qualified its foil unit of Jonathan Nulman, Elijah Septoff, Sean Oddoye, and Euwen Brenann into this weekend’s state championships. They finished in sixth out of 10 squads in District 1 earlier this winter.

Nulman was their top individual performer on the season with an individual record of 29-11.
