MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Morristown High School Colonials ended their season on impressive winning streaks seeing each team end their seasons with winning records.
The girls team won their last 7 matches in a row and haven't recorded a loss since mid January. Leading the charge were juniors Kinsey Ellis and Nicole Ezell.
Ellis has gone 10-1 over the last 3 matches and Ezell 14-0 over the last 4 matches. The girls team ends the season with a record of 9-4.
"What our girls team has done over the last 7 matches is very impressive, we have had different athletes step up every match and all 7 wins have been true collective team efforts," said head coach Chris Awad. "I'm excited to have another year with Ellis & Ezell and see what they can bring to the table as seniors, going a combined 24-1 over the last few matches is amazing."
The boys team also ends the season on a win streak, winning 3 in a row. During this streak the boys epee squad has anchored the run. Seniors Brendan Tierney, Christopher Elliott, Jake Reynolds, Nicholas Chin, Paul Tsien, and Kobie Barna have combined for 22 wins and only 3 loses. In addition, senior foil fencer Andrew Ottersen is 7-0 over the last 3 matches and junior foil fencer Euwen Brennan is 6-1 over the last 3 matches.
Awad continued, "Our guys are fencing so well right now I hate to see the season come to an end. We have a lot of talent and depth across the board and I know our kids want to keep going. For them to finish the season on a high note and with a winning record means a lot to our athletes."
The boys team ends their season with an 8-5 record.
