MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Morristown High girls basketball team opened up its season with a victory on Wednesday evening.
Paced by 23 points and six steals by star guard Elizabeth Strambi—perhaps a harbinger on how things are going to go on the statsheet this year—the Colonials notched a 35-26 victory over Sparta.
The defending Morris County and North 1, Group 4 champions jumped out to an 18-13 halftime lead, and extended the advantage to 25-17 after three.
Tara O’Neill was second in scoring for Morristown with four points, while Olivia Graham and Kate Kolb added three apiece. Elizabeth Mongey also added a field goal for the winners.
Next, the Lady Colonials will travel to Union on Friday. Tip off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
