RANDOLPH, NJ- After losing to Morristown 4-1 on Dec. 7th, the Randolph Rams hockey team had hoped to get revenge and defeat the Colonials when they faced them again. But, in an aggressive fast-paced game, the Colonials defeated the Rams 3-0 on Mon. Jan. 25th.

The Rams and Colonials each came into the game with determination, thriving to win. Both teams were aggressive and dished out major hits in the first period, as they both fought hard for the puck. The first period ended scoreless, with the Colonials collecting 6 shots and the Rams 8. 

The majority of the second period was played in the neutral zone, both teams competing equally.

With 4:15 left in the second, Jakob DeFares scored after tough play in Randolph’s defensive zone, giving the Colonials a 1-0 lead heading into the third.

The Rams were able to keep it a one goal game for the majority of the third period, applying pressure in the Colonial’s defensive zone.

With 5:07 left in the third period, Morristown took advantage of their power play opportunity, and with a second goal by Jakob DeFares, gave the Colonials a 2-0 lead.

As the time was winding down, Rams pulled goalie Luc Swedlund to give them an extra man on the ice. With 1:09, Kyle Byer  took advantage of an empty net goal, propelling the Colonials to a  3-0 lead. 

The Colonials will face Chatham Wednesday night at Mennen.
