MORRISTOWN, NJ - Frelinghuysen Middle School held a Recognition Ceremony for the Class of 2016 on Tuesday June 21 at Mennen Arena.  Faculty, Board of Education members, the Superintendent of Schools and the Principal of FMS as well as family members and friends celebrated the completion of middle school for 371 eighth graders.

FMS Principal Joseph Uglialoro spoke to the graduates encouraging them to listen, be kind and make a difference. Uglialoro quoted Maya Angelou when he told the graduates seated before him, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel".

A feeling of pride could be felt throughout the arena as 77 names were read during the presentation of awards. Awards were presented for Language Arts, Math, Geometry, Science, Social Studies, Gym, Band, Chorus, Orchestra, Contemporary Issues, Computer Applications, Information Literacy, Industrial Arts, General Art, Visual Art, Connected Art, French, Italian, Spanish, English as a Second Language, Bilingual, Perfect Attendance,  the Martin Luther King Jr Award, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Citizenship Award, Daughters of the American Revolution Award, American Legion Award, Robert D. Henry Steling Character Award, the William H. Danforth "I Dare You" Award, the Coccia Foundation Award, The Felicia Lebrun Service Award, the Paul E. Schroeder Memorial Award, the American Presidential Award, the Morris County Superintendent's Leadership Award, the Student Ambassador Award, the Kiwanis Leadership Award, the Student Council Award and the Falcon Award.

Most students will be moving on to Morristown High School next year,  but some will part ways to attend other local schools. Regardless of where they will go, these students have made their mark at FMS.
