MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Frelinghuysen girls’ basketball team completed a championship season on Saturday, February 3rd by winning the Group IV County Championship against Long Valley Middle School.  The championship capped a 16-2 season that saw the FMS girls win the last 11 games of the season including the county tournament where they beat the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds en route to the title.

The team was coached by FMS teachers Jake Cahill and Ashley Daly. The Falcons will lose eight eighth graders next year; Katie Duff, Olivia Schubiger, Elizabeth Rivetti, Maiken Gehsman, Xena Iossa, Jada Jones, Leah Curnow and Makena Spiotta but will look to the 7th graders to fill their shoes.

"I am so proud of how our team played throughout the season. Each player played her heart out and never gave up," said Coach Jake Cahill. "The defense played high energy defense that put relentless pressure on their opponents. Offensively, the girls played unselfish, balanced basketball where all of players touched the ball and had opportunities to contribute. This championship was truly a TEAM win."
