MORRISTOWN, NJ - The 3rd Annual Fitness crawl will hit the streets of Morristown on Sunday March 4. Morristown Moves is a community event bringing together fitness, wellness, and community to raise money for a good cause. Between the hours of 8am and 3pm, take classes at South Street Yoga and Nutrition, Barre 3, Powerflow Yoga, 70 South Gallery, 13 Stars Cross Fit, Summus, B. Jones Organic Spa, The Club at Headquarters Plaza, Taking Form, Fred Astaire Dance Studio, and Pinots Palette.
The event benefits the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life so all classes are free but a minimum donation of $20 is required to register for the event. All donations go directly to the charity. Last year's event raised over $3,000 for Relay for Life.
When asked how the event began, Debbie Weinstein, Board certified Nutritionist and owner of South Street Yoga and Nutrition said, "Morristown has a ton of wellness and fitness venues so why not harness those powers and work collaboratively to offer a healthy fun day to the town."
"Mostly everyone's life has been touched by cancer and we felt that it was a perfect fit for the Relay for Life event", Winstein continued. "In addition to raising money for them it creates awareness of their event. Over the past couple of years Morristown Moves has helped raise awareness so much that the ACS with had additional relay teams sign up and was able to recruit a handful of new committee members."
The event has doubled in size since its inception and Weinstein hopes the event will continue to grow, year after year.
"This year we had people approach us to be part of it and in the end we had to turn away two venues because the posters were already printed and schedule developed", said Weinstein. "Each year we hope to grown it and included more Morristown Businesses and bring more people from surrounding towns to the event"
Participants can take one class or all during the day. In addition to the daily schedule a special class titled Yoga and a guided Journey, followed by a wine tasting provided by Cambridge Wines will take place Friday March 2 from 6:45pm - 8:30pm at 70 South Gallery. This class is available to anyone who donates $30 or more to the event.
On Sunday March 4, the event will kick off with a breakfast at South + Pine Restaurant from 8am - 9am. Guests can pick up a schedule of the days classes, receive goody bags and view prizes. A wrap up party will take place at Pinot's Palette from 3pm - 4pm with complementary food, prizes and a wine tasting provided by Cambridge Wines.
