MORRISTOWN, NJ - A tree unveiling will be held on Saturday April 22 from 10am - 12noon in front of the Morristown High School STEM building. The trees were part of the grant awarded by TD Green Streets.
TD Bank and the Arbor Day Foundation supporting innovation in urban forestry announced that the Town of Morristown received a $20,000 grant will fund projects throughout Morristown, including the planting new trees and educational activities. The Shade Tree Commission is partnering with the students and faculty of Morristown High School and the Lafayette School to plant the trees and raise awareness about the value and care of urban trees.
“Urban trees are an integral part of making our community beautiful and this grant will help make Morristown a more sustainable urban environment,” said Mayor Tim Dougherty.
TD Green Streets is a component of TD Forests, a North American initiative that helps protect critical forest habitats equal to the amount of paper the bank uses each year. Together, these programs underscore the bank’s commitment to forest protection and stewardship, and are a direct investment in the health of our urban tree canopy.

In 2014, Morristown received designation as a “Tree City USA” by the Arbor Day Foundation and has kept that designation for three years running."We are grateful to TD Bank for its commitment to sustainability and support for urban forestry," said Morris School District Superintendent Mackey Pendergrast. "Together with the Morristown Shade Tree Commission Morris School District will use this generous grant to plant trees and shrubs at Morristown High School and Lafayette Learning Center Preschool and provide important, hands-on lessons in environmental conservation for our students."
