PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Loyola University Maryland senior Brian Begley will represent the Greyhounds this weekend when he plays in the 77th-annual USILA North-South All-Star Game at Providence College’s Anderson Stadium.
Begley, a short-stick defensive midfielder, will don the South team’s jersey in the game that starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 25.
The native of Morristown, New Jersey, earned All-Patriot League First Team recognition on the field and received Academic All-Patriot League honors for his work in the classroom. He was also an All-Patriot League Second Team honoree as a junior in 2017.
A starter on the Greyhounds’ rope unit since his freshman season, Begley tallied 35 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers this season, culminating his career with 118 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers in 65 games played.
He also was a key part of the offense, both in transition and settled situations with five goals and three assists this season; he scored 14 goals and had six assists in his career. Begley has helped limit opponents to a .262 shooting percentage and 8.70 goals per game in 2018.
Begley graduated last week with a bachelor of arts in history, finishing his time at Loyola with a GPA of better than 3.64.
