MORRISTOWN, NJ - The 2016 fall trout stocking season will begin in October by adding more than 20,000 trout to the state's major trout waters. Fall trout stocking, first began in 2006, and is offered by the state DEP's Division of Fish and Wildlife.  

During the week of October 11 - 19, trout from the Pequest Trout Hatchery will be stocked in Speedwell Lake as well as portions of the Black River, Rockaway River and Raritan River. The press release also stated that the Paulinskill, Pequest, Big Flat Brook, Wallkill Rivers in neighboring Sussex County will also get trout. These rivers and lakes will be stocked with trout measuring approximately 14 to 22 inches long and weighing 1.5 to 8 pounds.

The Rainbow Trout will be stocked in 16 streams and 21 ponds. Streams are stocked the first week, and ponds and lakes are stocked during the second week For a complete schedule on the trout stocking, click HERE
