Morristown, NJ- Unity Charter School presented its Charter Renewal through the NJ State Department of Education, on February 28, 2017.  Unity’s Charter school was renewed without exception for the next five school years 2017-2018 through 2021-2022.

Unlike traditional public schools, public charter schools must renew their charters every five years through the NJ State Department of Education. This process includes a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, fiscal viability, and operational stability in the areas of adherence to the original mission of the school, annual reports, student performance on statewide assessments, a structured interview with school officials, public comments, and fiscal impact on sending districts.

The mission of Unity Charter School is to teach the importance of protecting and improving the environment by educating our students on the principles of sustainability, ecology, and diversity in a way that celebrates and honors this planet and all its inhabitants. Unity Charter School exemplifies academic excellence, combining a progressive education, academic rigor, and experiential learning, while infusing environmental sustainability throughout the school culture. Unity Charter School maximizes each student's individual potential to become eco-literate citizens, critical thinkers, and life-long learners.
